WHAT NOT TO DO IN SANTORINI – Part 1

Sunsets from Oia are undeniably wonderful and are rightly famous all over the globe. Yet, the crowds that overwhelm Saint Nickolas castle ruins and awaiting the sun to dive into Aegean’s waters with their cameras stand by and at the end to burst into applause, definitely ruin the romantic atmosphere. Nevertheless, there are so many places with magnificent sunsets, less crowded though; at the small church of Saint John Thalassinou in Oia’s area, where there is also a lighthouse; from the hill where Kyra Panagia is built; from Baxedes area and Panagia Matrona’s forecourt at the village of Foinikia. Moreover, you’ll get extraordinary view to Oia and Therasia from Saint Ilias’s chapel, at Foinikia’s upper neighborhood. Skaros is worth visiting in Imerovigli, still you’ll enjoy unique sunsets from other spots of the settlement as well. At Fira, you can visit the area of Kato Fira, or the old mines’ area.
